What is OVNI Audio?
OVNI Audio is an indie label of spatial and creative audio effect plugins. The whole family — including the flagship, ORBIT — is free and open-source. Philosophy: simple interface, pro sound backed by real physics.
Are the plugins free?
Yes — every plugin OVNI ships is free and open-source (AGPLv3). Out now: ORBIT, the binaural movement engine, SUPERNOVA, the visual synth, and TELESCOPE, the analyser. EYEPIECE, the Mac app that reads your DAW project for your AI, is free too, but its code is not published. The rest of the family (PULSAR, NEBULA, DUST, HALO, HORIZON, AURORA) is coming soon.
Which formats and systems do they run on?
VST3 and AU on macOS; VST3 on Windows. Compatible with Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Studio One, Reaper and most DAWs.
What is a spatial or binaural movement plugin?
An effect that moves sound through 3D space around the listener using psychoacoustics (HRTF, ITD/ILD, Doppler effect). It creates a sense of movement, distance and immersion, especially on headphones.
What is the best free plugin for space and movement?
ORBIT — the free binaural engine: placement, orbits and real Doppler on one screen. To see your sound, SUPERNOVA; to measure it, TELESCOPE. More free modules (PULSAR, NEBULA, AURORA) are on the way.
